About

About Me:
I am an artist, designer, writer, and editor living in Los Angeles.
I was born in 1971 and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I majored in painting and drawing. After graduation I moved to Brooklyn, New York. During the eight years I lived there, I produced a large body of work that includes drawings, prints, paintings, and videos.
My video work landed me a job with Quentin Tarantino for the film Kill Bill and prompted my move to Los Angeles. I have since worked in the art department on all of Quentin’s films as well as on other movies with his production designer, David Wasco. I’ve also been fortunate enough to work on projects for some of my favorite writers and directors: Michael Mann, Richard Price, Daniel Clowes, Terry Zwigoff, Kimberly Pierce, Tarsem, and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo among others. My film resume can be found on IMDB.
In between film projects, I do a variety of freelancing, including writing gigs as well as various art department jobs on commercials and music videos. My first screenplay, King Bobby, is about the American chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer. I am now polishing my third one now called Scuba Diving about a man who goes off the grid and drops out of society. The second screenplay morphed into a five season T.V. show that I’m shopping right now called Homestead set in the aftermath of a Zombie Apocalypse.
In my spare time I can be found drawing about town, exploring my Highland Park neighborhood, running in Elysian park, shooting pool at Footsies, or playing poker with my no-good friends. I’m also a political junkie and I play a mean game of five-minute blitz.
About the Work:
The majority of this work is pen and ink drawings. The scale I work in tends to be between 3″ X 5″ on the small end and 24″ x 36″ on the larger end, while my paintings are on a larger scale than this.
Much of the work I do is from life. Drawing a friend or a model, sitting in a corner booth somewhere, sketching on the train…. In these works I have developed a style of impure contour drawing. That is to say, I try to spend the majority of my time looking at the subject and not at the line I’m making on the paper.
There are almost a thousand pieces on this site, and many of them are available for sale. If you are interested in purchasing work, please email me directly (see Contact).
I also do commission work and murals.
About the Site:
This newly-launched site represents 1/3 of my 2-D work. As soon as time permits, I plan on adding new drawings as well as past work. I also plan on adding videos and writing.
